ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT OF RADIX STEPHANIAE EXTRACT

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biologically active substance having antiinflammatory effects with low toxity. PSOLUTION: The extract of characteristic ingredient of Radix Stephaniae tetrandrae (SPRST) has the antiinflammatory effects. The antiinflammatory effects of the SPRST is the result of mutual action of Tetrandrine, Fangchinokine and other effective ingredients. The SPRST is a special extract of the Chinese medicine having antiinflammatory effects with low cytotoxicity. The SPRST carries out upregulation of calcium influx and generation of active oxygen (ROS) by G protein, and has the antiinflammatory effects and protective function to ishaemic-reperfusion injury by inhibiting occurrence of Mac-1 (CD11B/CD18) by up-regulation of heterophilic leucocyte.
