APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING GRAVURE PRINTING PLATE ENGRAVING CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for measuring a gravure printing plate cell, which enable accurate calculation of the volume of the cell without reference to a change in the shape of the tip of an engraving needle due to abrasion, etc.;SOLUTION: The apparatus for measuring the gravure printing plate engraving cell is equipped with: an imaging means for imaging the shape of the opening of the engraving cell, which is formed on the surface of the gravure printing plate, so as to offer image data; a shape-of-engraving-needle estimating means for estimating the shape of the tip of the engraving needle from the image data; and a volume-of-cell calculating means for calculating the volume of the engraving cell in accordance with the estimated shape of the tip. The apparatus and the method for measuring the gravure printing plate engraving cell enable the volume of the cell to be calculated with high accuracy by estimating the shape of the tip of the engraving needle from the shape of the opening of the cell.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
