PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately and easily set an amplification factor of an electric signal, to which photoelectric conversion is applied, at the time of reading optical information in the case of installing a stationary type optical information reader. ;SOLUTION: When an examination command is transmitted from an externally connected information processor, the optical information reader judges that examination command (S110) and automatically repeats (S190) a read of optical information (S130-S140) and transmission of decoded result/error correction information related to that read (S150-S170) just specified times while changing the amplification factor for each of prescribed times (S120 and S180). On the basis of data for specified times, the information processor calculates the suitable amplification factor and transmits the setting command.
