PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing system, a music recording and reproducing system, a music recording and reproducing unit, a music recording and processing program and a music recording method which offer higher usability, reducing complicated work on the part of the user. PSOLUTION: The information recording and reproducing system comprises the information recording and reproducing unit, which manages playback of information of a plurality of programs stored in the first recording medium and the portable information recording and reproducing unit which is freely attached to and removed from the information recording and reproducing unit and manages reproduction of information of a plurality of programs recorded in the second recording medium. When the program information is reproduced from the first recording medium, the system duplicates the program information recorded in the first recording medium and the information of one or more programs to be successively reproduced in the second recording medium. When reproduction of the predetermined program information has completed, the system deletes the program information from the second recording medium and newly duplicates program information to be reproduced after the duplicated information of one or more programs in the second recording medium.
