A metallocene compound having the formula (I): ;where;M¹ is a metal of group IVb, Vb or VIb of the Periodic Table of Elements,;two or more adjacent radicals R⁴ to R¹² together with the atoms connecting them form one or more aromatic or aliphatic rings and;if R⁵, R⁶, and R⁷ are hydrogen, R⁹ and R¹¹ are identical or different and are a C₁-C₄ alkyl group, a C₁-C₆ alkeryl group, or a C₆-C₁₀ aryl group.
