The invention concerns a method for decomposition of organic hydroperoxides in the presence of a catalyst. It provides a method for decomposition of organic hydroperoxides in the presence оf a catalyst in an alcohol and ketone mixture wherein the catalyst comprises at least a catalylically active ruthenium-based metal clement incorporated in a solid support selected from the group consisting of metal oxides and carbons such as carbons obtained by pyrolysis of organic compounds. The inventive method is particularly useful for decomposition of chemical intermediates such as cyclohexyl hydroperoxide.
