The two-pole, permanent magnet system for lift magnets has a rotatable rotor (3) and a stator (4) of ferromagnetic material. The stator comprises two halves held together in one piece by upper and lower bridges (1), produced in relatively thin material. The rotor comprises an iron nave of ferromagnetic material, to which are fitted permanent magnets (NS). The rotor is rotatable relatively to the stator by approximately one quarter of a turn for overcoming the residual magnetic flow, dependent upon the coercive force in the magnetic iron circuits, and a quarter turn for inverted polarity.
