The present invention provides a heat shield for an exhaust system of aninternal combustion engine. The shield comprises at least two metal layersshaped toconform generally to the shape of a high temperature portion of said exhaustsystem; saidmetal layers having substantially the same shape and extending in face-to-faceadjacency;wherein at least one of said metal layers has a surface comprising raisedbosses.
