A biochip (1) comprising a support (2) the active side (2a) of which comprises a functional surface (3) with an array of elementary sites (Xn) and many ligands, with many copies of each ligand fixed to different Xn, is new. The new feature is that (2a) comprises at least one ring (31) of Xn and a non-functional surface (4), positioned inside, or at the center of (31). An Independent claim is also included for a device, e.g. a disposable device, for determining at least one target species that comprises (1).
