A method for wood drying to achieve more consistent end moisture content

A method for drying pieces of wood including the steps of; determining an x-ray transmission rate for each of the wood pieces, assigning each of the wood pieces a predicted speed of drying grading based on one of more factors including an x-ray transmission rate or attenuation and drying some pieces assigned a predicted faster speed of drying under different drying conditions from some pieces assigned a predicted slower speed of drying.
