Device for verifying container numbers during loading and unloading of ships with container cranes in container terminals

The device has a camera system (12) installed on a container crane (1) for optical detection of container numbers on the right upper corners of containers (2) and an image evaluation system (14) with which the detected container number can be identified and compared with a previously stored container number in management computer of the container terminal. An Independent claim is also included for a method of verifying container numbers.
