An adhesive tape with a transversely-tearable film as carrier has a at least40 g/m2 adhesive coating on one side and a release layer on the other side, one or both edges of the tape having over the whole region indentations of breadth at most1000mu and depth at most100mu, with such indentations being non-uniformly arranged and of differing depths.
