摘要
A metallic cast material for friction bodies in acceleration or deceleration devices, in particular road or rail vehicle brake or clutch systems, is made of the ternary group iron-aluminium-carbon, so that the material is mainly in the intermetallic phase with an ordered crystal lattice structure containing free carbon in a lamellar, spherical or vermicular form. The aluminium content of the alloy lies between 20 and 28 wt %, preferably at 24 wt %. The material can be molten and cast openly in the presence of air. Brake disks, either massive or internally ventilated, are mentioned as corresponding friction bodies. The friction bodies are lighter, more resistant to corrosion, wear and alternate bending than previously known friction bodies made of ferrous materials, and can be worked at least as well as said bodies.
