Preparation Method of Tetrabromocyclooctane

PURPOSE: Provided is a process for producing tetrabromo cyclooctane in a high purity and a high yield, which can recover the tetrabromo cyclooctane in the form of crystal or particle and reuse the used solvents. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the steps of: mixing cyclooctadiene with a dichloromethane or a mixed solvent of dichloromethane and at least one low alcohol selected from methanol, ethanol, and propanol, wherein the volume ratio of the dichloromethane and the cyclooctadiene is more than 2/1; mixing bromine with the dichloromethane or the mixed solvent, wherein the volume ratio of the dichloromethane and the bromine is more than 2/1; performing a bromination by adding the bromine solution to the cyclooctadiene solution; exchanging the dichloromethane solvent for the low alcohol by vacuum-distilling the dichloromethane at 30deg.C or lower and adding the low alcohol; recovering the crystals or particles of the tetrabromo cyclooctane.
