PURPOSE: A method and a horizontal deflection coil are provided to reduce manufacturing costs and power consumption, while maintaining stability of dispersion and characteristics of pins of intermediate portion. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step of dividing a screen bent portion(100) of a deflection coil into four sections, and extending the effective length of specific part of an extension portion disposed in the diagonal direction of the screen bent portion of each section in such a manner that the effective length approaches the plane part of the rear surface of the screen bent portion so as to compulsorily generate pincushions at the edge of the screen, wherein the extension portion interconnects a neck portion and the screen bent portion; and a step of suppressing pincushions generated in the previous step by the pincushion control operation of the horizontal deflection control circuit.
