PURPOSE: A lighting device of an emergency lamp for a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to automatically light the emergency lamp by deciding the accelerated state by a brake sensor if a driver steps on the brake during driving. CONSTITUTION: A brake system of a vehicle stops the vehicle through the operation of a brake. A lighting device of an emergency lamp(54) for the vehicle comprises a brake sensor(52) sensing the sudden braking of the brake; a control unit(50) receiving a signal applied from the brake sensor and executing electronic control; and the emergency lamp lit by receiving power source by the control signal of the control unit. The brake sensor is a wheel speed sensor.
