PURPOSE: A method and a DNA chip for monitoring a response of cancer patients to irradiation therapy using antioxidant gene expression analysis are provided, thereby accurately anticipating the response to irradiation therapy and minimizing adverse side-effects thereof. CONSTITUTION: A method for monitoring a response of cancer patients to irradiation therapy comprises the steps of: collecting a peripheral blood cell from human; irradiating the peripheral blood cell; extracting RNA according to the time period; preparing DNA from the RNA; hybridizing the DNA with antioxidant enzyme cDNA; amplifying the hybridized DNA using one or more pairs of primers selected from (a) DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 1 and SEQ ID NO: 2, (b) DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 3 and SEQ ID NO: 4, (c) DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 5 and SEQ ID NO: 6, (d) DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 7 and SEQ ID NO: 8, (e) DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 9 and SEQ ID NO: 10, and (f) DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 11 and SEQ ID NO: 12; and analyzing expression pattern of the amplified DNA according to the time period. A DNA chip for monitoring a response of cancer patients to irradiation therapy amplifies one or more antioxidant genes corresponding to the following DNA fragments: DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 1 and SEQ ID NO: 2 - GPx1; DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 3 and SEQ ID NO: 4 - -GCS; DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 5 and SEQ ID NO: 6 - catalase; DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 7 and SEQ ID NO: 8 - CuZn SOD; DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 9 and SEQ ID NO: 10 - Mn SOD; and DNA fragments of SEQ ID NO: 11 and SEQ ID NO: 12 - Prx II.
