EXTRACTION AND UTILIZATION OF CELL GROWTH PROMOTING PEPTIDES HAVING IMPROVED STABILITY AND RELATIVELY LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT FROM SILK PROTEIN

PURPOSE: An extraction and utilization of cell growth promoting peptides from silk protein are provided. The cell growth promoting peptides have improved stability and relatively low molecular weight, so that they can be useful as cell adhesive, cell growth promoting agent, wound treatment promoting agent, cosmetic material and cell culture substrate. CONSTITUTION: The extraction method of cell growth promoting peptides from silk protein comprises the steps of: hydrolysis of undecomposed silk protein or undecomposed silk fibroin of silkworm with diluted acid, hydroxyl amine or protease; and fractionating the hydrolyzed products in molecular weight, wherein the cell growth promoting peptides comprises a partial peptides of one or two or more peptide chains selected from peptide chains of non-determining portion in the silk protein; the partial peptide has a specific amino acid sequence consisting of 4 to 40 amino acids; and the specific amino acid sequence is selected from the amino acid sequences of (1) to (8).
