PURPOSE: An apparatus for manufacturing aluminum clad steel wire by directly cladding steel wire with molten aluminum is provided, and a method for manufacturing aluminum clad steel wire using the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a melting furnace(12) capable of melting a large quantity of aluminum; a heat insulation furnace(27) capable of keeping a certain quantity of molten aluminum(11) at a certain temperature; a pressing part(25) capable of impressing a certain pressure to the molten aluminum preserved in the heat insulation furnace; and a mold part(24) comprising a hollow guide(23) into which a steel wire(19) is horizontally penetrated, a reaction section(26) for covering molten aluminum on the steel wire by receiving molten aluminum from the heat insulation furnace, and a cooling section(28) for cooling the molten aluminum covered steel wire(29), wherein the mold part is positioned underneath the heat insulation furnace, and wherein the aluminum clad steel wire is continuously produced by simultaneously installing the melting furnace and the heat insulation furnace, molten aluminum is kept clean to the maximum by separately installing the heat insulation furnace, and casting defects such as bubble or void formed on the aluminum clad steel wire are minimized by pressing a gas into the molten aluminum in the heat insulation furnace at a constant pressure, thereby maximizing fluidity of molten aluminum in the heat insulation furnace and the reaction section.
