PURPOSE: An image display device and a driver circuit device and a method for detecting a defect of a light emitting diode are provided, which performs defect detection of the light emitting diode electrically. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of light emitting diodes(LED)(D1-Dk) are arranged on an image display screen. A voltage detection unit(1) flows a constant current in an off-area below a forward voltage of the plurality of light emitting diodes and detects a voltage between both ends of the light emitting diode at that time, according to the input of a signal indicating a defect detection mode. A defect detection unit a defect of the plurality of light emitting diodes electrically on the ground of the detection result of the voltage detection unit.
