PURPOSE: Provided is an antimicrobial drug composition against Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus containing berberine as an active ingredient. The alkaloid compound, berberine, is the main ingredient of Phellodendron amurense. CONSTITUTION: The antimicrobial drug composition against Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus is characterized by containing, as an active ingredient, berberine which is of isoquinoline alkaloid as the main ingredient of Coptidis chinensis and Phellodendron amurense. The composition has excellent antimicrobial effect on Staphylococcus aureus, and when administered with oxacillin or ampicillin, its antimicrobial effect is maximized. The dosage of the composition is 0.05-500mg/kg.
