Galvanic corrosion control of piping for water method

摘要

PURPOSE: A process for minimize galvanic corrosion of pipe for seawater by forming a corrosion proof film is provided which saves time, man power and cost for maintaining and repairing different metal pipes. CONSTITUTION: For preventing galvanic corrosion of a pipe for seawater connecting to different kinds of metal, an insoluble anode is inserted into a hole of the pipe, a reductive electric current is impressed on the surface of electrochemically precious metal in a seawater atmosphere to give a Mg(OH)2 or CaCO3 containing corrosion proof film. The electric potential of about -1.0V(vs. SCE) is preferable, the low flow rate of seawater gives a high film formation efficiency.
