PURPOSE: An intracellular polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) depolymerase gene from Alcaligenes latus is provided to make the mass production of an optically pure (R)-hydroxycarboxylic acid effectively and economically. CONSTITUTION: A PHA depolymerase gene from Alcaligenes latus has a base sequence presented at the sequence No. 3. A recombinant expression vector contains a promoter connected to the PHA depolymerase gene. The promoter is selected from the group consisting of an expression promoter intrinsic to the PHA depolymerase gene, a trc promoter, a T7 promoter, a trp promoter, a tac promoter and a bad promoter. A recombinant expression vector of pUC19Ald contains the PHA polymerase gene, and a recombinant expression vector of p5184 contains a PHA synthase gene and parB(hok/sok) locus (the sequence No. 2). The transformed E. coli of XL1-Blue/pUC19Ald;p5184 (KCTC-10127BP) where the recombinant expression vectors are transduced into an E. coli of XL1-Blue is cultured, and an optically pure (R)-hydroxycarboxylic acid is obtained therefrom.
