PURPOSE: A retrieval service system for supplying input priorities of key words by category and a method therefor are provided to bind key words having similar meanings into one key word group, and to increase the frequency of input of key words associated with the key word group if the key words are included in the key word group, thereby calculating/supplying key word input priorities at a user's intention. CONSTITUTION: A category DB(310) includes categories and more than one key word group identifier associated with the categories. A key word DB(320) includes key word input recover data corresponding to key word groups. An input unit(330) receives key words from a user. The first key word group retrieving unit(341) retrieves the first key word group. A category retrieving unit(342) retrieves the first category. The second key word group retrieving unit(343) retrieves the second key word group. A key word input recover data retrieving unit(344) retrieves key word input recover data corresponding to the second key word group. An input priority calculator(350) calculates a random priority of the first key word group. An output unit(360) supplies the calculated priority. A key word input recovery data updating unit(370) updates key word input recovery data corresponding to the first key word group, and records the updated data in the key word DB(320).
