FIELD: radio engineering, acoustics, possibly detection of non-linear objects and investigation of their non-linear properties. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of acting upon investigated object by testing signal formed by means of physical factor changing in time; registering response caused by said action at frequency or at frequencies of one or several local zeroes of spectrum density of initial testing signal power; particularly, acting several times upon object at using testing signals with different maximum value and with constant waveform; using testing signal being summed signal of pulse and sine signals, superimposed Gauss pulses or their derivatives, superimposed pulses with discrete amplitudes. Invention allows to identify linear and non-linear conversions of testing signal in the whole frequency band by means of investigated object. EFFECT: enhanced responsibility to non-linear conversions of testing signal. 5 cl, 2 dwg
