The following are claimed: (A) 20-O-[alpha -L-Arabinofuranosyl(1--6)-beta -D-glucopyranosyl]-20(S)- protopanaxadiol (ginsenoside Mc). (B) Anticancer agent comprising (a) one active ingredient selected from ginsenoside Mc, 20-O-[beta -D-glucopyranosyl]-20(S)-protopanaxadiol (compound K), 20-O-[alpha -L-arabinopyranosyl(1--6)-beta -D-glucopyranosyl]-20(S)- protopanaxadiol (compound Y) and 20(S)-protopanaxatriol; and (b) one or more carriers.
