The rain water collector (1) for fitting between sections of a downpipe has a first hollow component (2) which can be pushed preferably completely over the first downpipe section, and a second hollow component (3) which has a recess at one end of its wall for fitting onto the edge of the second downpipe section, and along its inner side has a preferably encompassing collecting channel running into a drain connector (5). The other end of the second component and end of the first component facing the second component are designed to allow reversible interconnection. Independent claims are included for a procedure for the installing of a rain water collector, and for a procedure for the cleaning of the rain water collector.
