A method for control of a block traveling along a track with a drive mechanism and a hoisting mechanism for moving an object consisting of a load receiving device without or with a received load, in particular a container crane with a block traveling along a boom/out-rigger with a spreader for receiving a container. Continual travel-path- and/or hoisting path-specific braking position data is ascertained for the moving object and is continually compared with positional data of a obstacle/obstruction in which control of track and/or of the hoisting mechanism results, depending on the comparison. An Independent claim is included for a crane installation, especially for a container crane.
