Method for monitoring the noise signals generated by a noise generating production process. According to the method the noise of a process or processes are recorded and compared with pre-recorded reference noises. If a significant difference from a normal production noise is detected or if the noise matches that corresponding to a defined production fault or error the production process can be altered or controlled accordingly.
