Method for management of a data object of an electrographic printer or copier, wherein the data (V1=12) of at least one data object are stored in a database (12). Assigned to the data object is a label (V1). At least a first source text (14) is generated that contains the label of the data object. A second source text (22) is generated from the first source text, whereby at least the data object label is replaced by the stored data associated with this data object throughout at least a part of the database.
