The pump (3) lifts the water (4) above the filter (13). It is trickled down in air to oxygenate it, and then enters the filter. The pump produces a water jet (6) against a wheel with vanes causing it to rotate freely on a shaft, to promote contact with the air. Turbulence is set up, deflecting the water in a direction parallel to the shaft; propagating eddies being broken up by mechanical obstacles.
