The advance fire detection installation has an IR radiation detector, with a teleobjective and a geometric resolution of 1cm by 1cm for a measuring distance of 40m, scanned across a monitored surface via a pivot device, for point detection of hotspots. The output signal of the IR detector is compared with an IR radiation threshold value, for providing the hotspot coordinates when the threshold value is exceeded, a control device used for control and coordination of the IR radiation detector, the pivot device, the comparator and the output device providing the hotspot coordinates. An Independent claim for a method for advance detection of a fire is also included.
