The injection assembly (10) for an injection molding machine, with an injection unit as a piston/screw with axial and rotating movements in a housing, has a piston sealing zone (13) at the leading end of the piston (12) in the flow direction. It has at least one flow channel including a non-return valve. The piston has a forced mixing zone (14) between the sealing zone and the screw, in all axial positions of the piston, formed by spaced outward hollow zones (16) in the inner surface (17) of the cylinder tube (11) on one side and by inner spaced hollow zones (15) in the piston on the other side. The outer peripheral surface (22) of the sealing zone is free of hollow zones.
