Monitoring method for the inductor of an induction hardening installation. The inductor is filled with a liquid coolant to cool it after inductive heating of a workpiece and in order to test for leaks the coolant flow rate at the entrance and outlet from the inductor are measured and compared with a difference indicating a leak. An Independent claim is made for a device for leak monitoring in an induction hardening plant that has two mass flow rate sensors (11, 12) at the inlet and outlet to the inductor. The sensors use orifice plates for flow measurement.
