The knitting needle (10), especially for the production of industrial textile fabrics by stitch-knitting, has a longitudinal shaft (23) with a hooked recess (36) to hold a yarn and with a holder at one end and a point (31) at the other end. The needle body has two flat sides (27,28), tapering at an acute angle to each other to the end point. The acute angle between the sides is at one value at the start of the end section, to change at a transit point (33) to a smaller value.
