The fence has posts (19) with two holes to receive fastening pieces of connecting element (11) of a fence unit (7), and a fastening plate in the bottom section of each post with two opposite lying plates which each have a pair of holes. The fence post fits onto the plates and is screwed to the fastening plate by screws which pass through the holes. The fastening plates each have holes for a base (29) which is embedded in the earth and has a blind hole in the middle into which the fence post is inserted, whereby the fastening plate which is screwed to the post is fastened on the end face of the base.
