Apparatus for measuring the dielectric constant of materials (7) comprises electrodes (1) with a known surface area. These are encapsulated in a good insulator (4) of known dielectric constant. The material is placed between the insulated electrodes and held in position by non-conducting spacers (8). A sealant (9) is applied to the junction between these, forming a chamber (6) containing the material being investigated.
