Following a kill, a dead wild animal is hung from a scissor frame (1) prior to removal of the viscera, gutting and cleaning. The assembly has a pair of curved tongs (5, 6) coupled to a scissor-action levers which turn on a pivot (7) and grip a carrying pole. The tongs remain closed under the influence of their own weight. The scissor-action closes the tongs bringing together arms (17, 18) which terminate in detents (25, 26). The detents provide a support point for the meat hooks from which the dead animal hangs.
