Connecting system for pipes and suchlike carrying especially carbon dioxide under pressure has co-relationship between cross section of non-compressed circumferential seal, groove depth and gap width as well as groove length
A connecting system for pipes, fittings and units for the carrying of pressurized media has a first (1) and second (2) coupling section, and an elastomer, gas-permeable seal (3) fitted in a groove (4). The connecting system for pipes, fittings and units for the carrying of pressurized media has a first (1) and second (2) coupling section, and an elastomer, gas-permeable seal (3) fitted in a groove (4). The cross section of the non-compressed seal, the groove depth (T) and gap width (s) as well as the groove length are co-related in such a way that in a ratio of a permeation-effective partial circumferential surface of the seal to the contact length, determining a permeation through the seal, the partial circumferential face is not greater than half the value of a cross sectional face of the deformed seal extending perpendicularly to the axial direction (X-X). An independent claim is included for a circumferential seal for a connecting system.
