The anode plate (30) has a rectangular configuration with opposing edges with first and second halves, a hydrogen inlet connected to hydrogen channels in five sections, a hydrogen outlet connected to the fifth section of the hydrogen channels, whereby hydrogen enters the anode plate via the hydrogen inlet, travels through the S-shaped passage formed by inner circuits through the hydrogen channels and leaves the anode plate via the hydrogen outlet. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a cathode plate for a fuel cell system (b) a water cooling plate for a fuel cell system (c) and an air cooled plate for a fuel cell system.
