The steam generator includes a liquid guide unit in the form of a housing with a recess on one side for a heating pipe (10) and on the other side has a hollow structure (201) incorporating a meander-like hollow chamber (202) which forms a liquid passage. The liquid passage is defined by a number of guide walls (203) and on both ends is connected to a feed and drain pipe (30,30') via a respective inlet and outlet connector (221,222) penetrating the wall of the housing.
