The subscriber calling a group of mobile subscribers selects a subscriber calling number with characters symbolising the call as a group call. The dispatcher originated call is received by a mobile switching centre (OMSC) in a mobile communication network. The characters of the subscriber call number (CN) are evaluated for identification of the local service area. After evaluation of the characters (numbers) for the group call selected subscriber number, the area information is transmitted directly to a destination mobile switching centre for the group to be called. The control information (DAT) is obtained from a virtual register, and is included in the subscriber call number. The mobile network meets the GSM standard.
