Two accelerometers (4) of the type used to control airbags are located on the printed circuit of an air pressure sensor fitted to a wheel (2) which is turning clockwise (6). The accelerometers measure the varying component of acceleration due to gravity only along directions (D1,D2) which are displaced by 30-150 degrees and this information identifies right or left wheels from the signal sequence. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a tire pressure sensor which includes accelerometers mounted on the printed circuit to detect right or left wheels; and (2) a method for detecting right or left wheels on vehicle by using signal sequence on accelerometers displaced by 30-150 degrees and located within wheel.
