The device has a driving part (12) activating a cable (16) of a control brake that places a parking brake in an active or inactive state. An electric engine (26) controls the driving part in opposed lines of tension and relaxation of the cable. A mechanical unit (32) indicates the state of the parking brake such that the indication corresponds to the parking brake state, through an initial activation of the parking brake. An Independent claim is also included for a process of configuring the electronic control device of an automobile parking brake.
