PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which permits control of the PHA unit ratio, thermal properties and solubility in a solvent, satisfies both biodegradability and heat resistance, and is excellent in prevention of generation of environmental problems, extrusion molding properties and mechanical properties, and a binder resin for an electrostatic image-developing toner which is biodegradable, has high environment-preserving performances, permits re-utilization of a copied paper as it is easy to deink, and satisfies various necessary performances. PSOLUTION: The polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) copolymer contains, in the molecule, units selected from both of the group consisting of the units represented by formulae (1) and (2), and the group consisting of the units represented by formulae (3)-(6). The manufacturing method of the PHA copolymer is also provided. The resin composition comprises a resin (A), which comprises the PHA containing units selected from the group consisting of the units represented by formulae (1) and (2), and the other thermoplastic resin (B), where the mass ratio of (A)the mass ratio of (B). The molded article, its manufacturing method, the binder resin comprising the PHA containing units selected from the group consisting of the units represented by formulae (1) and (2), the electrostatic image-developing toner comprising the binder resin, the image-forming method and the apparatus using the toner are also provided.
