PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a modified catalyst for use in the manufacture of bisphenol A excellent in catalytic capacity by uniformly modifying a strong acidic ion exchange resin without damaging the same.;SOLUTION: In the method for preparing the modified catalyst for use in the manufacture of bisphenol A by partially modifying the strong acidic ion exchange resin with a sulfur-containing amine compound, a fixed bed reactor is filled with the strong acidic ion exchange resin and an aqueous solution containing an acid and the sulfur containing amine compound is injected in the fixed bed reactor and circulated to modify the strong acidic ion exchange resin. In this case, an inert gas is bubbled from the lower part of the fixed bed reactor, while the aqueous solution is circulated after injected or in a state that the circulation of the aqueous solution is stopped temporarily, to stir the strong acidic ion exchange resin.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
