PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide austenitic stainless steel which has resistance to corrosion causing intergranular fracture in a high temperature water environment.;SOLUTION: The austenitic stainless steel for a high temperature water environment has a fundamental chemical composition shown by ≤0.050% C, ≤0.9% Si, 0.01 to 2.0% Mn, ≤0.05% P, ≤0.01% S, 15 to 30% Cr, 5.0 to 40% Ni, ≤0.10% Al, and 0.001 to 0.140% N (wherein, C+N≤0.140%), and also comprises W and Mo in the following ranges: 0.5%≤W≤2.5%, 1.0 to 3.0% Mo, and also, 1/2≤W/Mo≤5/6 (1), or 2.5%W≤4.0%, and Mo≤0.5% (2).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
