PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out a new protein useful as a heat-resistant enzyme, by analyzing a three-dimensional structure of a hypothetical protein obtained from a genomic analysis of a highly thermophilic bacterium and clarifying a function characterized by the structure.;SOLUTION: A new chlorous acid dismutase having a specific amino acid sequence and base sequence and a gene thereof are provided, respectively. Further, an enzyme modifying method for changing substrate specificity of the enzyme and/or improving specific activity thereof based on the three-dimensional structure of the chlorous acid dismutase and the chlorous acid dismutase of variant type which is modified by the method are provided, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
