PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an improvement in network maintainability and decrease operation cost for a wide area Ethernet service using L2 switches.;SOLUTION: The normality of packet continuity between adjacent L2 switches or over a plurality of L2 switches (continuity check mode), verification on which L2 switch is passed and conducted (switch continuity trace mode), and the detection of a network loop are established to be checked by a test by remote operation according to a packet having a test MAC address as its destination and a definition for a test operation mode at the time of reception.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
