Trans compounds of platinum (II) of formula trans- [PtCl {sub, 2} (amine) (dimethylamine)], with antitumor activity, with general formula PtX {sub, 2} L {sup, 1} L {sup, 2 } In this formula X is a halogen, preferably chlorine and L {sup, 1} and L {sup, 2} are amine ligands. Of these ligands L {sup, 1} is preferably dimethylamine and L {sup, 2} are preferably R-NH {sub, 2} aliphatic amines in which R is a straight chain or cyclin alkyl group. These compounds are active against cancer cells.
